In focus - Automation expertise for the future of the automotive industry

On 26 October 2023, Stäubli Robotics hosted an expert forum in Bayreuth that focused on the important topic of automation expertise for the transformation in the automotive industry.

The event brought together experts from various fields, including users, manufacturers and those responsible for research and development. Current topics and innovative approaches to automation in the automotive industry were discussed. The focus was on battery production, the manufacturing of fuel cells and the production of driver assistance systems - all highly dynamic future markets with considerable growth potential.

One interesting aspect of the discussion was the planned creation of around 30 gigafactories in Europe by 2027, which are intended to cover European demand. The question of the extent to which German plant engineering can benefit from this boom was at the centre of the discussion. The need to rethink automation was recognised as a key issue. The experts discussed how the manufacturing processes of the future could be designed.

Baumann Business Developer Stefan Wendl was on site as a speaker and contributed to the discussions, providing important insights into Baumann's key competences. He presented Baumann's intelligent and modular cell system in general. In order to reduce time and costs, the virtual commissioning of lines with the highest possible level of automation is being pushed forward. With acitive|alignment he presented an efficient solution for precise camera assembly.

The expert forum was accompanied by a trade exhibition at which, in addition to Stäubli Robotics, well-known exhibitors also presented innovative solutions from pioneering areas of automotive production. This emphasises the diversity and progress in the industry, which is further promoted by such events.
